Hank Stamper from Ken Kesey's "Sometimes a Great Notion". Kesey had a way with creating such sexy and full blooded men in a way Hemmingway never could. And, as an aside, I really loved Kesey's writing.

But what if you're gay? Do they not tell if they're mandated to serve? And what a stupid question about the current system. It has always been inequal: poor kids sign up, rich kids go to college. Sadly, this question is more important than stopping with friends. My sister and I were, gasp, Democrats!!!.

She has now become,from her influence with her husband,so rightwing that even Ronald Reagan would raise his eyebrows. It's hard for me to talk to her since I believe in rights for all and she only thinks white men with money have any say. I won't even commenthow she now perceives women, although she herself is one.

Boneless/skinless chicken marinated in low-fat Italian dressing grilled
Couscous cooked in homemade lowfat chicken stock with carrot pieces and black pepper
Big salad with lots of lettuce, cukes, celery, tomatoes with homemade dressing
Huge brownie or a piece of cake, made from scratch of course
All done in under an hour except for the time decorating the cake with butter cream icing

I would eat lobster,king crab legs with butter/lemon; sea scallops with sea water; fried fish and chips with lemon/tarter sauce and ketchup followed by a grilled cheese sandwich and a blond brownie. All consumed with a gallon of milk.

The worst advice I ever got was from my mother. She said,"Take French instead of Spanish." I live in the US. My mother spent hours screaming at me because I wasn't good at French. I still cannot speak French and I wish I had learned Spanish.

I'm a huge Who fan. In 1993 I had to be the 3rd caller on a radio station when they played something by them. I was. I won a CD of "Tommy", a video of the movie and a 3 night 4 day trip to NYC to see it on Broadway! We stayed at the Hilton Towers overlooking Central Park. We had orchestra seats and it was fantastic. And since that was only 4 hours out of our stay we had all this time to play in one of the greatest cities in the world. What a wonderful trip. And so many different agencies donated, nothing put us over the mark and we didn't have to pay any taxes on it. This is my only winning, but it was perfect.

I hate some of my neighbors. Most of us have 1 garbage can and 5 recycling buckets. They always have 3 huge cans of trash and 1 measly recycling bucket. Plus they put all their beer cans and wine bottles in the trash to hide them. As if we didn't know how much they drink. The rest of us gloriously display our beer cans and wine bottles along with the milk and orange juice cartons.

My first was around the corner from Fenway Park. Second was 1/2 block from where the Boston Marathon runs. Now I live in Boringland but thankfully I can follow it all on TV. Obviously I hate where I live now. I would give the Marathon area an 8, and Fenway a 6.5. What's it like elsewhere?

As with all of you, I salute the living and mourn the dead. I wore a POW/MIA bracelet for long after the Viet Nam War. I finally took it off in the '80's. I've kept it all these years. My daughter had to pick a vet last fall to write about and she chose him. He is listed on the Wall and his family has a website about him and his joy of living before he went missing in Cambodia in 1968. He is the one I am thinking about the most today, along with his family.
